20060909 Bible Study for the Day- 2 Samuel 24

Failing to trust in God to provide for us has consequences, both immediate and far reaching. The constant lesson of faith is that, whether things are going well or in dire straits, we must look to God for our guidance, and for us that guidance comes to us through God’s word. This is not to say that we are saved by piously reading the Word. No, we are saved by faith in what that Word teaches us, but we are strengthened in that faith by following that teaching in our daily lives, and by that strengthening we are able to face the world, the devil, and our own sinfulness with vigor. 20060906 Bible Study for the Day: 2 Samuel 21

God’s plan for judgment and redemption is final, and God always follows through on His promises. This statement is not some sort of threat to illicit behavior out of blind fear, but rather a reminder that the Word that God provides us gives us a clear testimony as to His will and His intentions. God promised the house of Saul that it would bear the burden of his sin, and it did. God also promises what will happen to each person based on faith, and we can be sure that He will follow through in the same way. The reminder then is to always look to God’s word and His will, to remember His promises, and to always seek first His kingdom and righteousness. Continue reading
