20070211 Bible Study for the Day- Joel 2:18-3:21

Context for Joel 2:18-3:21

God never abandons His people, even when they must be allowed to suffer the consequences of their own actions. God’s promise is sure: He will redeem His people and gather them to Himself.

Joel 2:18-3:21

The final judgment of God over all mankind will be swift and fearful, but not so for those who have placed their trust in God through their faith in His Salvation. For those people, God’s judgment will be the beginning of an eternity living fully under God’s grace, saved from sin and restored to their place as God’s perfect creation.

But we cannot rest on the laurels of thinking God’s judgment will not apply to us. Our faith can be a fragile thing, constantly under attack from the devil, the world, and our own sinfulness all of which seek to drag us away from our God and His promises. Because we know this, we much heed the Word and its warnings and rededicate ourselves everyday to conforming to God’s will. By faith, through this dedication to the Word and Will, we will certainly reach that last day and its jubilant beginning.
