20070827 Against All Enemies, Foreign and Domestic

The Huffington Post

Martin Lewis, whom I must admit I had never heard of before today, has landed squarely on my “enemy of the United States” list.

The problem here is that Mr. Lewis wants General Pace to depose a sitting President during a time of war because he does not like the war, not because he wants to protect the United States. This suggestion of coup is not one borne out of a sincere desire to protect the Constitution or the American way of life; instead it is a suggestion borne out of a self-centered desire not to have to read about Afghanistan, Iraq, and the other venues of the War Against Fundamentalist Islam.

Worse, Mr. Lewis is neither an American nor has he ever served in the US Military whose action he so cavalierly calls for. These facts make Mr. Lewis the worst kind of leftist hack–one who has the expectation that someone else should do things he is obviously unwilling and incapable of doing on his own. These facts alone make Mr. Lewis guilty of crimes against the United States, crimes he is protected from simply because he hides behind the shield of “Journalism”.

Unfortunately, Mr. Lewis’s comments will likely be given a pass by far too many people who refuse to take such comments seriously. Unfortunately, far too many people fail to realize that these very kinds of comments are what continue to undermine the foundation that makes America great, thereby opening the door for the very kinds of tragedies that Mr. Lewis suggests.

Have no doubt, however, that I am watching Mr. Lewis. I swore to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and I have a very long memory. Participating in the defense is part of the purpose of this weblog and of my attempt to communicate this information to my readers. Now is a dangerous time, and we all need to be paying attention.
