Descent into Jihad
The linked, lengthy post details one man’s journey into and out of jihad. Tawfik Hamid is an Egyptian physician and a Muslim who fell onto the dark road that led to fundamentalism.
I think retellings of such journeys as the one Hamid experienced should be required reading for anyone who wants to understand the nature of the fundamentalism Muslim enemies we face today. The point of these stories is to reinforce that this problem is real, ongoing, and will not go away because of rhetoric or hope.
Hamid’s story is the story of our enemy–the enemy of the West and anyone who loves liberty. We would all do well to pay attention.
