Leading Democrat candidate pledges to compromise America’s ability to defend itself

Blackfive points out that leading Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama pledges to compromise America’s ability to defend itself by eviscerating what little is left of the military that won the Cold War.

Now, I know plenty of people who will cheer such a development. After all, it is American aggression that has led to the current world situation through its arrogant international policies and threatening military, right? Certainly, our enemies, both the terrorist and the traditional kind, will listen to reason if we just stop threatening them, right?

Welcome to the end of the American Republic, folks. When politicians believe that contracting American defense to its allies and international groups while simultaneously funding socialism by punishing anyone defined as being too rich through taxes and forced subjugation to the government, then the fate of the Republic is truly in question.

This election is possibly one of the most important in the history of the United States. Certainly, people get tired of hearing those kinds of dramatic statements, but the facts of the issues in this election certainly lend themselves to that kind of evaluation. Only the will of the American people has the strength to alter this course, and I fear we are too weak as a nation to fight it.

Let’s be clear: we are not citizens of the world; we are citizens of the United States of America. We did not come to occupy our comfortable and much envied position as leaders of the free world because of the rest of the world, but because of the courage, sacrifice, work ethic, and exercise of liberty of generations of Americans who came before us.

We will retain that position only by retaining the ideals that made our nation great. Certainly, we want all nations to be great, but we want their greatness because they achieved it on their own, with our help, not at the cost of our own greatness. Anyone who believes that Obama’s ideas will result in anything other than decline ignores history to their own, and our nation’s, peril.
