Able to be president?

Worldview Item of the Day

There was a short-lived story a while ago about Obama’s birth certificate, apparently not as short lived as originally thought as a federal judge has now ordered him to produce a certified copy. Winds of Change has the details.

Be sure to read the actual U.S. District Court complaint at http://docs.justia.com/cases/federal/district-courts/pennsylvania/paedce/2:2008cv04083/281573/13/. This link is cirectly out of the Winds of Change article.

And, you can keep up with status of the action (last updated 29 Sep 08) at http://news.justia.com/cases/featured/pennsylvania/paedce/2:2008cv04083/281573/. A further link from the one above.

This is fascinating and it’s not hard to understand why the drive-by media aren’t talking about it. But, why aren’t we hearing more about it from the conservative radio talk shows and websites?? I’d love to see it play out that Obama is not a legally qualified presidential candidate. BUT, would happen then? Emergency DNC convention that would nominate Hillary? Didn’t she get more actual primary votes than Obama? Aren’t Hillary backers still chomping for her candidacy? Would a lot of swing votes swing back to the left? I haven’t confirmed but sense that the plaintiff who filed the complaint was a Hillary backer since he originally filed to prevent Obama from being nominated in the first place. So, like many Democratic tactics, maybe this is bogus also. There’s no shortage of political intrigue these days. Kind of makes the “hanging chads” of 2000 look pale. What do you think?

If and of this turns out to be true, there’s no telling what will happen. As far as I know, there is no precedent in American politics for this kind of thing. Whatever happens, I can see it involving the Supreme Court and maybe even the military depending on who decides to do what.

Again, if this turns out to be true.

As for the voters themselves, I think a lot of people would be turned off from the Democrats if they think the party tried to trick them, whoever would be picked as a replacement. Does that mean McCain wins? I don’t know.

It’s the potential for a Constitutional crisisof the first order.

Where do I stand in the shadow of such a potential Constitutional crisis? I am bound to my nation by oath to “Protect and defend the CONSTITUTION of the United States of America.”
