Worldview Thought for the Day
We’re all guilty of it from time-to-time: saying we believe in something we do not demonstrate with our actions. Here are a few glaring instances of such behavior that have really bugged me of late:
- Self-proclaimed social liberals who shout tolerance at everyone while mocking conservatives, Christians, and anyone else who disagrees with their actually very narrow worldview.
- Supposed small-government conservatives who work for the government.
- People who are not scientists studying evolution but proclaim to everyone that there is irrefutable proof that evolution is true because someone told them there was proof or because they read it was true while ridiculing religious believers for their faith.
- People who claim to believe something while demonstrably knowing nothing about the thing they claim to believe.
- People who dismiss something someone else believes while demonstrably knowing nothing about the thing they dismiss.
- People who claim that they are open-minded, free thinkers yet will only believe something if someone whose authority they respect says it is true.
