And now, the real State of the Union

Citizens of the United States,

223 years ago, fellow citizens now passed-on gathered and created a document designed to embody the ideals first enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and in the blood shed during the twelve-year-long war for independence that followed. First among those ideals was the creation of a government of, by, and for the people that maximized the rights of every person to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness without the burden or interference of any government at any level.

In the past 223 years, our nation has slowly succumbed to the thrall of big government reaching into every aspect of our lives, so that today far too many of our fellow solutions believe that problems as diverse as providing health care for ourselves and ensuring our continued economic prosperity are best solved by demanding that the government take care of them.

In doing so, we citizens–we people of the United States–have entrusted 536 people to exercise an increasing amount of our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness on our behalves.

Now, fellow citizens, I ask you how this state of affairs is that much different than that which caused our fellow citizens now passed-on to risk their lives, fortunes, and sacred honors for independence and the war that followed?

I say it is no different and, therefore, I say that the state of the union is that it is a union no more, but a nation of people beset by a government of self-styled oligarchs, crying out for the life, liberty and right to pursue happiness promised to them in words only. I say that any government that spends more than 10 percent of the gross national product in debt in one year is no longer a government of, by, and for the people it oppresses with $40,013 in debt for every living soul. I say that the state of the union is that the government has killed the Constitution.

There is only one thing that remains, my fellow citizens. If you believe in the ideals Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the sacrifices of our fellow citizens now passed-on, then you have no choice but to oppose the current government and replace it with one that adheres to the ideals you believe in.

This opposition can be peaceful. While the oligarchs in Washington wield inordinate power relative to the positions they hold, they still reach those positions by the will of the people. If we choose to exercise that will, we can bring our government under control.

If we fail to do so, our state of affairs will only get worse. If there is a silver lining to doing nothing, it is that eventually even the government oppressing us will fail.

To the end of preventing that failure and regaining control our government, I pledge that I will no longer vote for politicians tied to the two incumbent political parties. I will no longer support corporations, groups, or individuals that continue such support. I will work to establish the basis of power in our nation in the individual, at the local level, and for the benefit of every person’s right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

To this I pledge my life, my fortune, and my sacred honor. I pray that you will too.

Could you share the total of $40,013 X 300,000,000.? My calculator can’t go up that high and yes, I can do it in my head but I want you to print the figure on your website, please.
