Waterloo
Jules Crittenden has up a well-written piece on his weblog about the 194th anniversary of the battle of Waterloo and how that battle helped lead to the rise of the anglosphere as it exists today. It’s worth reading just for … Continue reading

Change nobody wants to believe
Worldview Item of the Day
No one wants to believe it will happen, but our governments, at least at the federal and state levels are going to go bankrupt. While people try to deny this is where the United States and the socialist governments of the industrialized world are headed, the evidence is already clear.
One glaring example of this evidence is the rapidly approaching insolvency of Social Security and Medicare. These two programs, upon which millions upon millions of Americans have chosen to rely, are going to cease to function as they were promised, very likely within the next decade. Yet, one has to wonder why the Shabab has turned a blind eye on the piracy rampant on Somalia’s coast until it was suddenly worth $100 million dollars. […] Continue reading

Why McCain? Because national security is still the issue.
Regardless of who wins the White House on 4 November, regardless of whom we inaugurate 20 January 2009, that person will still inherit a nation at war. Even though the news and the campaigns largely choose to ignore the fact that more than 200,000 members of our all-volunteer fighting force are in harm’s way, we will still inaugurate a wartime president. Whether the winner of the election believes in the notion of winning or withdrawing, he will still be forced to deal with the harsh realities of deployments and fighting and dying because we are a nation at war. […] Continue reading

Carbon emitting kids
Who didn’t see this coming: a pair of doctors in Britain want Brits to limit themselves to just two children because each additional child helps contribute to global warming. […] Continue reading
