These verses are an encouragement for Christians to give, and to continue to give, of their time, talents, and treasures in the support of the continued work of the Gospel.
It is important to consider that such giving should not be limited to treasure alone. It is often too easy to put a few dollars in an offering plate and consider the matter done, while we horde our time and our talents to ourselves. Everything we have is a gift from our God, and as such, we should joyfully give of it for the furtherance of the Kingdom. In such giving, our joy and our giving act as a witness to our faith.
