    In 2 Timothy 12:1-7, Paul teaches Timothy the lesson of focus. For Timothy, his focus was to be that of a Pastor and teacher. Paul encourages Timothy to look to that task and to pursue it with diligence. Just as a soldier or athlete puts his profession above other concerns, so Timothy was to do as a pastor and a teacher.
    Each of us has tasks- perhaps even callings- that are set before us by God. Some of these tasks may be small; others may last a lifetime, but whatever these tasks might be, like Timothy, we should focus on them with diligence, for these tasks are the fruits of a faithful spirit and always serve to further the kingdom of God.
