Bible Study for the Day: Leviticus 27

200602017 Leviticus 27

Leviticus 27 is the last chapter of Leviticus, so ends our study of that book, yet we cannot forget the main theme of Leviticus for the Christian, that is that Christ came, lived, and died so that we might be rescued from the condemnation of the law by its fulfillment:

“But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished- he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.”
     Romans 3:21-26

Dedicating ourselves to the Lord is a solemn and worthwhile thing to do. In such a dedication, whether it is for a specific purpose or in general, we remind ourselves that God’s purpose for us is greater than our own wants. How does a Christian make such a dedication.

Some do so by entering the public service- that is becoming a pastor or a teacher or a lay minister- yet for most of us such dedication is impractical. Instead, we can dedicate ourselves to the Lord by looking out for the very kinds of things that He puts in our way.

It might be helping with a youth car wash on a Saturday, mowing a shut-in’s grass, or making an extra gift to the church for some special need, but such acts are the actions of dedication that bring us closer to the Father. Every one of us should seek such dedication and encourage our fellow Christians to do the same. In this way, we can grow in faith and in the knowledge of God.
