Hebrews 8

The writer to the Hebrews emphasizes something that we rarely thing about in our Christian walk in today’s reading, and that is the fact that our faith in Christ today is of the same nature as the covenant that God made with Adam, Abraham, and Moses. Indeed, by fulfilling the convent God made promising Christ’s coming, Jesus himself established a new covenant with those who are faithful to Him.

Jesus represents the dividing line between what was- the law and the promise of salvation- and what is and is to come- that is our salvation from sin and the promise of eternal life. In Jesus is the complete fulfillment of mankind’s relationship to God, the relationship God intended us to have with Him before the fall. I Jesus, we can realize that relationship, being saved by Grace.

Because of that fulfillment, we are freed from the bonds of the old covenant, now replaced with the new covenant of faith. It is in this new covenant that we journey, making our way toward our final promise of Heaven.
