I doubt this probe will be coming back to earth, except perhaps as the angst-ridden brain of a super collective searching for its maker (Star Trek reference).

The New Horizons probe is the first dedicated mission to the sometimes-maligned planet of Pluto. The mission, scheduled to last as long as ten years, seeks to answer many questions about the distant wanderer, including ‘is it really a planet?’. In order to accomplish this mission, the probe will have to pass across 3 billion miles of interplanetary space, making it one of the most distant man made objects.

So, sit back and wait. Sometime in 2015, we’ll get to see Pluto up close and personal.
