2 Corinthians 11:1-21a

Paul’s concern for the church at Corinth exceeds even his concern for himself. As I posted yesterday, Paul set aside his ego- obviously there were some in Corinth who considered him to be a below average speaker- in order to ensure that the Gospel was preached in purity and truth.

Paul, while setting aside his ego in talking to the Corinthians, was really trying to get them to do so as well. From Paul’s exhortations, we can gather that the Corinthians were being misled by false teachers, teachers whose delivery was polished and whose rhetoric was pleasing, but whose gospel was not the Gospel of Christ.

So to, we must watch earnestly and pray without ceasing so that we can be prepared to test the message of those who claim to preach the Word, but we must do this testing without seeking credit for ourselves. In all things, we must do what we do as Christians in humility and Christian love.
