       Micah 5:1-5 stand as one of the most beautiful prophecies regarding the coming of Jesus Christ. It was this promise that the Wise Men were referred to by the Jewish scribes and priests when they came to Jerusalem seeking the Christ. It is a direct and meaningful promise about the coming savior.
         It is also an assurance to us today that this prophecy was indeed fulfilled by the coming of Jesus bar Joseph, the carpenters son from Galilee, the Son of God sent to redeem man from his fallen state. God promised us His savior, and He did not just use oblique and haughty language. Indeed, he told us exactly where to look for our savior and how we would know Him. In that knowledge and comfort, we can rejoice, for our hope is in the Promised One.
