Hebrews 13:9-25

The last chapter of Hebrews ends like many of the New Testament epistles, acting as a summary of the sometimes difficult discussions within the body of the letter. In the conclusion of Hebrews, we see the important exhortation to the letters readers of what a Christian life should look like.

The writer reminds us that we have been freed from the law of sin by Jesus’ sacrifice, a sacrifice that paid the wages of sin once and for all. For that reason, we are to look to Christ for our way, not to the teachings of men or the thoughts of our own sinful flesh.

The way of Christ is a way of dying once and for all through Jesus death and living a new life filled with the Spirit of Truth through His resurrection. We all must hold firm to that new life, constantly seeking God’s will and looking for the furtherance of His kingdom. In doing so, we discipline ourselves and prepare for the kingdom we have been promised.

This is the last of our studies for Hebrews. Tomorrow, we begin the study of the Old Testament book of Numbers.
