Deuteronomy 4:1-40

“Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!”

     This section of Deuteronomy begins Moses retelling of God’s law to the Israelites before the cross over into the Promised Land. Within that law, we many common themes, themes that endure even today for us as Christians.

     The greatest among those themes is the notion of our relationship with God. It is a simple relationship, yet it is one that provides benefit beyond our imagination. Jesus summed up that relationship best when he said to us in Matthew 22:34-40 that the greatest commandment is to love God with all of our hearts, minds, and strength. From this love, all other good things flow.
