    The tale of Ruth gives us an important glimpse into the lives of Jesus’ ancestors hundreds of years before Jesus came. In those lives, we see a faithfulness and compassion that was rare in the times of Israel’s judges, yet still persisted in spite of the unfaithfulness so prevalent in the rest of the land at that time.
    The faithfulness of Ruth, Naomi, and Boaz are provided to us as an encouragement, so that we can remember that, even in the times of darkest need, God is with us and will provide for us. Indeed, our God already provided us with our greatest need, that is our Savior Jesus Christ, by which we are too redeemed through faith, and by that redemption promised a place in the coming Kingdom of God.
