Leviticus 19-20

The wages of sin is death. After hearing the law handed down by God through Moses, the Israelites learned that terrible truth. Whether the death was an animal sacrificed on the altar, or the death of the sinner because of an abominable sin, death was still the result.

Death is the action of sin that cuts us off from God. We were created as sinless, immortal creatures in the image of God our father. In sin, that image becomes distorted and unrecognizable, and that distortion is the fact that, from the moment we are conceived, we are dying.

But praise be to God that He sent us his Son to die in our stead. In Jesus’ death, sin was abolished through the shedding of the blood of the sinless, and by His resurrection, we find that our greatest enemy, death, has been abolished too. By faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection, we are restored to our likeness to God our father and once again made heirs to His eternal kingdom.
