    NASA’s Mars rover Spirit has lost one of its six wheel motors, leaving the rover with only five functioning motors as it struggles to reach a slope where it can get enough power to survive through the Martian winter. Although this problem is something of a setback, it comes 24 months after the Mars Rover program was scheduled to end. Not bad for a remotely controlled vehicle two years over its service life!
