Deuteronomy 2

Deuteronomy 2 continues the tale begun in Deuteronomy 1, which is a retelling of the journey that the Israelites took to arrive at the Jordan, just across from the Promised Land. Here, Moses paused their journey before he died and the Children of Israel moved on to take the land God has promised their forefathers.

In this tale, we see God’s grace played out in a nation that escaped Egypt, survived forty years wandering through the desert, and finally was victorious by the hand of God against those who resisted their approach to their promised inheritance.

As Christians, we can see in this tale a God who is faithful and true to His promises. While we sometimes wonder, seeing that the things we hope for have taken a long time to come, we can rest assured that God will fulfill His promises in His time.

Just like the Israelites, we can find our way through the trying journey of life to find ourselves standing before our own Promised Land, waiting for the fulfillment of our own covenant that God promised us through Jesus Christ. Then, just as the Israelites many years ago, we will see the fulfillment that God has promised.
