    In 1815, the Indonesian island volcano of Mt Tambora erupted in an explosion so violent that it completely wiped out the entire civilization living on the island and spewed so much ash into the air that it precluded a war winter around the world. Archeologists are now digging up the lost remains of the people wiped out by that eruption, peering into the mysterious past of a civilization destroyed by the sheer force of the earth.
