Just when we think we know everything, another scientific expedition comes along and proves how much we have yet to learn. In this case, the expedition was a biological exploration of the deep jungle of the remote Papua province of Indonesia. The expedition discovered multiple instances of what appear to be new species in the truly old-growth, unadulterated jungle forest.

That expedition, like so many other research teams, exposes the reality that, for all we know, the have barely scratched the surface of what is to be known about the world and the universe in which we live. That fact is comforting, because it points out that we humans, for all our bluster, are still learning, and still learning means still progressing. When that progress stops, then we should all be worried.
