20060830 Bible Study for the Day: 2 Samuel 12:1-13:37
Today’s reading shows us the beginnings of the consequences David had to face as a result of his sin with Bathsheba. He lost his infant son to illness, a direct consequence. Then, he lost his son Ammon to the vengeful sword of Absalom after Ammon raped their sister, thereby fulfilling God’s promise through the prophet Nathan that the sword would never depart David’s household as a result of his sin. 20060829 Bible Study for the Day: 2 Samuel 10-11

20060827 Bible Study for the Day: 2 Samuel 7
God’s covenant with David in 2 Samuel 7 is one that we should rejoice with David in, because it was this covenant that established the house of David as the line from which our Savior would come. Certainly, God’s promise to David had immediate application as well. It was David’s son Solomon who took the throne of Israel after him, and it was Solomon who built the temple David desired to build. Continue reading

20060826 Bible Study for the Day: 2 Samuel 5:17-6:23
As David moved the Arc of the Covenant to his new capitol at Jerusalem, he celebrated its arrival in a way that some, specifically his wife Michal, found undignified and shameful. Consider that David was dancing before the Arc essentially in his pajamas. To people like Michal, this was the height of humiliation and shame. Continue reading
