Sometimes in the midst of looking for the spiritual truths of the Bible, we forget that there are physical truths there as well. One of them is the fact that David was a great and mighty warrior and king, feared by his enemies and respected by his allies by the grace of God in whom he trusted. David’s might was such that great men gathered around him simply to be near David and his own greatness. Yet, this greatness was meaningless before God. Before God, the only thing that counts is faith, and that faith David had received in abundance. It was because of his faith that David became a great man, not because of his own might.
